That was a terrible display yesterday afternoon at Celtic Park, especially in the first half. We played decent for about thirty minutes in the second half, but overall I have to say that the team was unrecognisable to what we have become used to seeing at Celtic Park. We went into that game with the possibility of winning the league against Hearts if the result in Dundee later went our way later in the day, that won’t happen now, but make no mistake, we will win the League, and in my opinion, win our ninth World Record Treble.
The team selection raised a few eyebrows when it was announced, we knew there was a chance that Callum would not be fit enough, but the big surprise was the inclusion of Maik Nawrocki, Big Rocki hasn’t played much football this season, but I thought he did well in the game. It was unusual for two of our stalwarts to have off days in the same game, I’m sure Kasper and CCV have certainly had better days than yesterday. It was very apparent how much influence Callum has on our team, he was definitely missed greatly by us, we need other players to step up to the plate in those situations, if not we need to find players that will.
Everyone will have noticed the empty seats at the front of the Green Brigade’s section, I didn’t know until after the game what had happened, and what did happen was scandalous, and questions need to be asked about who organised the Kettling of supporters on London Road, then denying them entry to the game. This is not a “Police State” the police can’t act with impunity; they can’t criminalise young kids because they support their team in a manner which is different from the normal. Ultra supporters are watching football all over the world, it’s not to everyone’s liking, but you can’t solve it just by arresting and criminalising young kids. It was heavy handed and unnecessary to keep the supporters with no access to food, drink, or toilet facilities for such a long time. I spoke to John Paul Taylor this morning, we are demanding a meeting with the police at the earliest opportunity, can we look forward to a repeat when we visit the Bigot Dome in a few weeks’ time?
Glasgow’s still Green & White. Hoopy St Patrick’s Day.
