Mission accomplished, League Title delivered, one more to go to secure the Double. It was a cracking day on Saturday at Celtic Park, the Home of the Famous Glasgow Celtic, to see all the supporters, especially the young ones decked out in their Celtic jerseys and scarves was magnificent. We had to come from behind twice, but that’s the character of this group of players, and the Manager, nothing short of victory is acceptable.
The atmosphere during the game was electric, and the Tifo for Joe Hart was as good as any produced by the Green Brigade, Big Joe was very emotional, we hope to see him back at Celtic Park on a regular basis as a supporter, he would be made very welcome. Joe stated that he is retired, and that he couldn’t play for another team after Celtic, which doesn’t mean there could not be a role for him at Celtic, you never know in football.
I was a big supporter of bringing Brendan back home to Celtic, I know he was not every supporter’s first choice, but he is Top Class in what he does, and even when we went through a sticky patch, I never doubted once that we would win the League when we got our injured players back. That’s eight trophies out of nine, and on Saturday at Hampden, it can be nine out of ten, which is a tremendous achievement in any country.
So come Saturday, at the dump that is Hampden, we can complete a double, which would make seven out of nine trophies in the last three seasons, remarkable consistency, and the envy of many of the teams throughout Europe who claim to be Top Dog’s, Where we go, others try to follow, and some die in their quest to emulate us. Let’s hope we have a good week’s training, with no injuries, and a full squad to pick from. Play to our capabilities, and get a fair deal from the officials, and I’m confident we will be celebrating again on Saturday night.
I note Glasgow City Council complaining about the mess made in Merchant City on Saturday afternoon/evening, did they make the same complaints about the mess made in George Square four years ago? Or do the complain every summer when a crowd of bigots walk the streets of Glasgow and many other towns and cities throughout the summer months? Never hear from them. The answer is quite simple, create a Fan’s Zone on Glasgow Green. Provide toilet facilities and food outlets, the money the venders pay for a spot would more than cover the expenses. If Glasgow were lucky enough to be given a European Tournament Final, there would be a Fan Zone, there would also be an increase in public transport services, extended dink license times, anything needed or requested would be granted, but not for the Green side of Glasgow. Fortunately for the people of Glasgow, Celtic will continue to dominate Scottish Football for the foreseeable future, sparing them another George Square Bear on Bear Fest.
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
