Letter to Mr Maxwell re ticket price for Cup Final.

Dear Mr Maxwell,

I’m writing to you to express my disgust at the prices being charged for the tickets for the Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Dunfermline. To be charging £52 and £32(concession) for the North and South Stands, and £42 and £27(concession) for the East Stand is nothing short of scandalous, and looks like a blanket £10 increase from the Semi-Final, and doesn’t seem in any way fair considering one of the teams plays their football in the Championship.
Celtic Football Club has played over sixty times at Hampden Park this century alone, which means we have contributed greatly to the coffers of the SFA, and though we are happy to be consistently playing in Semi-Finals and Finals, we should not be treated like a cash cow for the SFA. We have always sold out whatever allocation we have received, and on most occasions we receive an allocation that is well short of what we could have sold.
While I have no problem with Dunfermline getting a decent allocation of tickets for the Final, I think it’s completely unfair that their season ticket holders could purchase up to sixteen tickets each, while around 50% of Celtic’s season ticket holders would not have an opportunity to purchase even one ticket.
I cannot find any justification for the decision to charge such inflated prices, the facilities at Hampden are sub-standard to say the least, and added to that, the vast majority of Celtic Supporters buses will be unable to park their bus even remotely close to the stadium, meaning many supporters cannot even attend the match because of the long walk to the stadium. Having said all that, I suppose you have to find some way of covering the cost of first class flights and five star hotels in the United States in a few weeks’ time.
Regards,
Joe O’Rourke,
General Secretary,
Celtic Supporters Association.
