That’s the job almost done, one more point needed to confirm three in a row League Titles, might not even need that, I’m not so sure Sevco will beat Dundee tomorrow night, and if we win the League before Saturday, get your money of the wee ones from Edinburgh on Saturday, trying to convince people that they try against their cousins from Govan. It doesn’t matter how you win the League, its just winning the League that matters, the team at the top with the most points deserves to win, that’s how it works, and we’ll be top with the most points.
It was a magnificent day at Celtic Park on Saturday afternoon, the weather was brilliant, and to see so many supporters wearing our colours was special. The stupid and rash decision to cut the ticket allocation for the Glasgow Derby might just have played a big part in the defeat of Sevco, when they got back to 2-1, they had no supporters there to urge them on for an equaliser, not that they deserved a draw, they had one tactic the entire game, launch the ball long and hope for a mistake from one of our defenders, so much for Clemente being a top European Coach, the Belgian got schooled by Brendan Rodgers.
Once again the only disappointment was not scoring more goals, Butland had a few good saves, and we missed a few opportunities to put the game to bed, which led to the nervousness in the stands and on the pitch, but in the end three points were secured, which was all that was required, and the fifty fourth title is all but completed. That means Celtic have won twelve of the last thirteen League Titles, and eighteen out of twenty-four this century, can you imagine how many trophies we would have won if we had honest referees?
Hopefully on May 25th, the fifty seventh Anniversary of winning the European Cup in Lisbon, we can complete the Double at Hampden. As soon as the Title is confirmed, Brendan needs to manage the squad, there are players we need to wrap in cotton wool, a few spring to mind, like Callum, CCV, and for sure Daizen Maeda and Matt O’Riley, we want to go to Hampden with a full strength squad, it would also give some players more game time in case they are needed, like Idah, Palma, and Iwata.
Everyone played their part at Celtic Park on Saturday, from the very top right to the very bottom, that’s the only way we will be successful, we need to continue that for the next three matches. Kilmarnock will be a test, we all know Derek McInnes won’t be doing us any favours, and with their horrible plastic pitch, which makes it harder. Celtic Park versus St Mirren takes care of itself, and then it’s on to the dump that is Hampden. All we need to do in the three games, is play to our capabilities and we’ll be fine, the Double is definitely on.
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
