Great result in Motherwell. RIP Big Tid, a proper Celtic Legend.

Well that was another successful and enjoyable Sunday afternoon in Motherwell yesterday, it’s been a difficult venue for us over quite a few seasons, Stuart Kettlewell is usually very well organised in his defence, and in the young boy Lennon Miller, he has a very good prospect, I’m pretty sure Brendan will be keeping his eye the boy’s progress. But after a cagey start, Celtic managed to get their momentum going, with faster movement of the ball, and more energy.

I was delighted to see young Luke Mc Cowan getting his first start for the Hoops, filling in for our magnificent captain Callum is no easy task, so I thought Luke had a smashing game, he obviously tired a bit late on, although Luke played a lot of games for Dundee, he will not have played a lot of matches where the energy needed, and the pressure to perform is so high, so take a bow Luke, I’m sure we’ll see a lot more of him as the season progresses. We have a minimum of fourteen games between now and the end of the year, hopefully fifteen counting the League Cup Final, so we will need a big squad to be able to rotate players, while still winning matches.

I think it’s fair to say VAR has not been kind to Celtic so far, there is nothing wrong with the actual system, it’s the incompetence of the match officials, and the officials in the VAR Room that is the problem, and I’m being kind to them by calling it “Incompetence” it would probably be more accurate to call it “Blatant Cheating”. Take the incident in the first half involving Daizen Maeda, it’s as clear a penalty as you will see, O’Donnell clearly shoves Daizen off the ball, but between David Dickenson and Alan Muir, after being able to watch it numerous times on replay, they still called it hand ball, and a free kick to Motherwell. Now we all know for a fact, when Santa visited their houses in their early years, a Celtic Jersey of Scarf was not on their letter to Santa. When Willie Collum does his YouTube coverage of certain contentious decisions, he may well say they got it wrong, but what are the consequences of continually getting it wrong? They seem to nearly always get it wrong in favour of Sevco, and nearly always get wrong against Celtic. Willie Collum was announced as a fresh face for managing VAR, but he’s just the same as a fifty-year-old hoover, he won’t get rid of the rubbish.

It was really sad to hear of the passing of Celtic Legend Tommy Callaghan, and a Proper Legend Big Tid was, he was the only player Jock Stein signed twice. Tid was a cracking player, he had an engine that never stopped, or even slowed down, it takes courage and belief in your own ability when your joining a team that already has Bobby Murdoch and Bertie Auld in the midfield, and the like of Kenny Dalglish, George Connelly, and David Hay in the Quality Street Kids Reserve Team, but Big Tid got his head down and got on with it, he won six League Titles in a row, for Scottish Cup medals, and one League Cup medal. I had the honour and pleasure of Tid’s company at every home game at Celtic Park, he was an absolute gentleman, and a pleasure to be around. Requiescat in aeternum pace Tommy, They never die who live in the hearts they leave behind.
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
