What promised to be a difficult game last night turned out to be a stroll in the park. I suppose the only downside was losing a goal near the end, but in fairness, it is fantastic defending to only have lost three goals at home in the League this season, and all three to Aberdeen as well, so take a bow Kasper and the rest of the players, we can’t just say the defenders, because the first line of defence is Daizen Maeda, and what a job the wee man is doing. I cannot remember ever seeing a Celtic player, or any player for that matter, who works so hard during a game, and right until the final kick of the ball, no matter the score-line.
It was a good all round performance, Aberdeen are a decent team, and they worked hard, but they came up against a Celtic team who were still angry about losing three points against Hibs on Saturday. Again it was a game where the match officials played a major part on the outcome of the game, the game was there to be won, after a poor first half, we got our act together and dominated the second half, we had a goal disallowed, which up until now, no evidence has been shown which would vindicate that decision. It’s strange that since Saturday’s controversial decision, no photographic or audio evidence has been produced by the SFA. They claimed after the match that decision was factually correct, well show us the proof.
This was not a one-off honest mistake; these types of so-called honest mistakes have been happening ever since I started following Celtic in the fifties. Right throughout every decade, the SFA have replaced “Cheating Referees” who were retiring with new younger “Cheating Referees” and let me be clear, there is plenty of evidence of that due to the technology evolvement through the years. If we tried to compose a list now of referees who have been less than honest whilst officiating at matches involving Celtic, it would be a very very long list, just imagine how many trophies we would have already won if the match officials had been fair and impartial.
Let’s look at just a few of them, it would be hard to pick the worst. Booby Davidson of Airdrie, he refereed eight Derby games around the middle sixties, a period when Celtic won the European Cup, the outcome was five defeats for Celtic and three draws. I well remember the1970 Scottish Cup Final versus Aberdeen which Davidson officiated at, there were at least three major decisions given against Celtic, a non-penalty awarded to Aberdeen, a goal disallowed for Celtic, and a stonewall penalty denied to Celtic, the was no way we were winning with Davidson in charge. This match was actually sandwiched between two European Cup semi-finals with Leeds Utd.
We had Booby Tait telling Alan Stubbs that we would never get a penalty against the deid club while he was refereeing. We had Dougie Mc Donald, who awarded Celtic a penalty at Tannadice, then overturned the award, both him and his linesman lied to Celtic Manager Neil Lennon. Who can forget Hugh Dallas circulating an offensive and insulting email about the Holy Father, his son Andrew tried to follow in his footsteps. Others like Tiny Warton, Ian Foote, and JPR Gordon were notorious amongst the Celtic Support. Fast forward to this day and we have, Alan Muir, Steven Mc Lean, John Beaton, David Dickenson, and Greg Aitken, and even the ones who did not grow up supporting the Govan Mob have colluded with the others.
They have been trying for years to try to stop Celtic being successful, they have failed and will continue to fail, because the Famous Glasgow Celtic will always prevail, we are More than a Football Club.
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
