Comfortable win on Saturday. Final farewell to Arthur Doris, a Celtic Pioneer to Luton Town.

Saturday was a bit of a run of the mill victory, although we knew Jim Goodwin would do his best to frustrate Celtic, I always thought we would get there, and the early goal from Callum, and the second from Jota made it reasonably comfortable, especially with the game in Munich on Tuesday night. It was another good start for Luke Mc Cowan, the Bhoy gains in confidence with every game he plays, and he has a big part to play until the end of the season, especially with Paulo Bernardo ruled out for 4/5 weeks. It would have been frustrating for Luke when we won the League Cup knowing he hadn’t contributed, but when the League medals, and hopefully the Scottish Cup medals are handed out, he will know he played his part.

I thought on Saturday our two full-backs did well, Big Tony gives his all any time he is called on, and it was a first start for Jeffrey Schlupp, he showed he can certainly play his part when called on. I also thought Yang had a good game, he is gaining confidence with playing his part in the team, he’s still a young player, he needs to play more and gain more experience, but that won’t be easy if Nicolas, Daizen, and Jota are ahead of him in the pecking order, and with Jamsie Forrest on the way back. Maybe it will be a case of sending Yang out on loan, let him play every week and, and get used to the ruggers of Scottish Football, or should that say the cluggers of Scottish Football?

Tuesday night in Munich is a massive challenge for Celtic, Bayern are rightly classed as one of the best teams in Europe, and will certainly be amongst the bookies favourites to win the Champion’s League, but we are still in the tie, and with a bit of good fortune could win through to the last sixteen, I always say in these games, try to keep it tight for the first twenty minutes, hopefully frustrate their big support, then go on the front foot. We have players in our team, that on form can cause Bayern problems, I think Daizen will have been noticed, and they know about Nicolas, maybe the surprise packages could be Big Adam and Jota, Adam is finding his form, and Jota can be unplayable, so we are very much still in it. We will certainly be outnumbered in the Allianz Arena, but we certainly won’t be kept quiet there, let’s get right behind the team from the first minute. And once again, “No Pyro” please.

The Funeral is taking place in Luton today of Arthur Doris, one of the “Twelve Apostles” they were the 12 Bhoy’s who started the Luton Celtic Supporters Club back in 1966, and I’m glad to say, after all these years the club is still thriving to this day. Without Bhoy’s like Arthur the name of Celtic Football Club would not be as famous, they were Missionaries in their day, lots of them went to towns like Luton and Corby, finding work in the car factory in Luton or the steel works in Corby, as well as their family, they took the Celtic Family with them as well, and they made sure that the name of “The Famous Glasgow Celtic” was heard in every place of work, and in every drinking establishment. What is really important to remember is, that these pioneers continued with the Charity Work of Walfrid and Celtic, and they have young kids playing on the local parks in the Famous Green & White Hoops, and winning trophies every single week.
Sadly, we are losing too many of the Old Brigade these days.
Requiescat in aeternum pace Arthur. They Never Die Who Live in The Hearts They leave Behind.
Glasgow’s still Green & White, and so is Luton Town.
