Another Carlsberg weekend. Bayern won’t be easy, but we can test them, and beat them, we all need to play our part.

If Carlsberg did weekends, it would have done last weekend, a nice comfortable win against Raith Rovers, and the obstacle to having a good Scottish Cup Final experience removed by Queens Park, and just when you thought Sevco loved anything to do with the Queen, well except paying her tax of course. It’s great to be able to get up every morning and think, I don’t care if it’s raining, I don’t care if it’s snowing, because, no matter what, I’m a “TIM” and the sun is always shining on us. We can now look forward to completing another Treble, don’t get me wrong, I’m not being complacent, or getting ahead of myself, I just believe with a level playing field we are more than capable of completing the job.

It was a very good display once again on Saturday, and once again the Star Bhoy was Daizen Maeda, what a find he’s been for Celtic!!! and ably abetted by Yang and Luke Mc Cowan. When you consider Brendan made nine changes to the team that battered Dundee on Wednesday night. It’s always a gamble to start with a lot of fringe players in the Cup, the back five had never played together before, and I remember we struggled for the first half against a good Falkirk team in the League Cup, but this time it went very smoothly, and I thought big Dane Murray had a good game after his unfortunate slip up at Villa, he is certainly a Big Unit, so hopefully he’ll get other opportunities to play and get more experience. There were no failures in the team, and in the substitutes, so a great day all round.

Saturday also showed us there is life after the Magic of Kyogo, I would still have liked him to stay at least until we had a replacement, but there are goals in our front and middle players, the number chalked up so far by Daizen and Nicolas has been amazing, with obviously more to come. The speed of those two is frightening for defenders, and we are at our best when we are moving the ball forward at speed, as we have done in the two previous matches, scoring eleven with two clean sheets, somehow I don’t think we’ll get it quite as easy against Bayern on Wednesday night, but we are certainly capable of getting a result against them, although Daizen will be a massive loss, but we have Nicolas and Jota to play each side of Big Adam.

I think we got our final warning from UEFA regarding behaviour, and in particularly the use of Pyro techniques, I thought that it was right not to punish a whole support because of one lone wolf, but I don’t think they will accept that argument a second time. The supporter in question I believe has now lost his season ticket, I’m pretty sure if you asked him if he’d like to turn the clock back, he would say yes, unfortunately that’s not how it works. Wednesday night is a massive game for us, and we all have as supporters our own particular part to play. Celtic Park is famous, not just for the football, but probably mostly because of the atmosphere generated by our support, we need to be on it against Bayern, they are one of the Elite Teams in Europe, with a fantastic history, and they won’t spook easily, but let’s put them to the test, lets treat them to the loudest ever “Walk On” then drown out Zadok the Priest, and continue that noise for the whole match. We can do this Celtic.
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
