Scotland's Shame: The Songs or the Silence ?

Yesterday, John Reid made a statement in which he called the Rangers fans new chant of hate "racist." He also condemned it as illegal under the Race Relations Act. As a former Home Secretary, one would think John Reid knows what he is talking about.
The Chairman of Celtic calls Rangers fans racist. A former Home Secretary says they are breaking the law. Surely either story on its own would normally be enough to make the front pages of our national newspapers ........ and yet the only sound, apart from the singing itself, is the sound of silence.
Which is the more shameful? The conduct of the Rangers support, or the silence of a media which claims to hate sectarianism and racism as much as we do but consistently turns a blind eye to it?
