Blistering start to the season. Great additions to our playing squad.

I want to just clarify something here. This is not a “Blog” and I am not a “Blogger” this is the Celtic Supporters Association website, and I do the writing for it. So what I’m writing is my opinion, some will agree, and some won’t, but I can’t write the page by Committee, I would like to think that most agree, but we all see the game differently, and other opinions differ. We are in the process of updating the website, so hopefully it will improve.

Now to yesterday, I remember talking to Scott Brown up at Lennoxtown after he had decided to leave Celtic. I said to Scott that we would miss him as a player, but what we would really miss the most was his leadership on the park, Scott just said to me, we’ll fine with Callum as captain, well Broony was spot on again, in Callum we have a brilliant footballer, and a brilliant captain, and the joy on his face yesterday tells us how much he loves being Captain of the Famous Glasgow Celtic.

We carried on with our blistering start to the season with our 3-0 victory yesterday, it could easily have been 6-0, but we’ll take 3-0 every day of the week. It was a fantastic all round performance from the team, from Big Kasper to Daizen it was almost flawless, the back five were rock solid after a slow first 10 minutes, I thought the middle three for the first hour were outstanding, Paulo Bernardo had maybe his best game in a Celtic jersey, ably backed by Reo, and of course Callum. The front three were on fire, the Sevco defence must love seeing Daizen and Kyogo lining up against them, and we have added the speed and ability of Nicolas Kuhn as well. Liam Scales is another who had a great game yesterday, as I already said, it was great all round team performance. It was also great for Arne Engels and Luke Mc Cowan to make their debut, both of them did very well when they came on.

Once again John Beaton had a dodgy game in the middle, I have seen a lot more physical Glasgow Derby games than yesterday, so nine yellow cards seemed a bit excessive. Beaton also denied Celtic the chance to play advantage a couple of times as well, we looked in good positions to go through on goal, buy as usual Beaton came down on the side of his beloved Sevco, as a well-known Sevconian, you would think he would want to miss officiating at these matches, even his cheating couldn’t help that team. Kyogo came in for some rough stuff as well, the thugs in other teams are targeting our Japanese Bhoy even more now, they can’t handle his speed and movement, so they employ the dark art’s, that’s when you need a strong, competent and honest referee.

Some of our supporters were getting nervous as we approached the transfer window deadline, but I believe we managed to do some good business, it was a sad day when Matt O’Riley left, but we wish him well at Brighton, even after his horror debut injury. The deadline day signings of Arne Engels, Auston Trusty, and Luke Mc Cowan, completed a good window for us, if we Add Adam Idah, Kasper Schmeicel, Alex Valle, and Viljami Sinisalo. Good luck also to Mickey Johnston and the other players who moved, we wish them well at their new club. I was delighted to see Luke Mc Cowan joining us from Dundee, I think he will be a great option for us in midfield, he has a great left foot, and his delivery from set-pieces is very good. I have always followed Luke’s career, I played with his Grandad in the seventies, young Luke was always determined to make it at football, he would stay and do extra training on his own when all the other boys had gone home, so all his hard work has paid off.

Finally, big congratulations to James Forrest playing his 500th match for Celtic, James has been a great servant to Celtic, hopefully he has a few more games and goals in him before he finally retires.
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
