Another game, another horror show from the match officials, and especially Grant Irvine on VAR, nothing has really changed in terms of winning the League, we just have to win every game and the Title will be ours. I was actually with Mick Conroy yesterday, now Mick knows a thing about coming from behind to win the League, I think we won our last five games in 1979, when 10 Men won the League, we beat hearts 1-0 in one of those games, the goal was scored by Mick, a good Port Bhoy.
The obvious turning point was the red card to Auston Trusty, upgraded from a yellow after a VAR review by the aforementioned eagle eyed Grant Irvine, it was also ironic that on the same day as the BAFTAS, Jamie Mc Grath was seen rolling around the pitch clutching his arm, a real tough guy. Mr Irvine then decided that hanging on to Liam Scales jersey as he attempts to attack a corner is not a penalty, or a red card, and didn’t need to send the referee to the monitor, which came as no surprise given recent decisions.
The game itself was there to be won, we had twenty one shots at goal, we had eleven corners, which just proves we are not good at corners, either attacking them or defending them. It’s sad to say, but the team are struggling at the moment, it’s as if the life has been sucked out of the players, it’s a simple football fact, if you score more goals than your opponents, and concede less, you win games and trophies, we have lost seven games so far this season, and drawn three, twenty seven points dropped, that’s not title winning form, and yet, the title is still in our own hands.
Thursday night in Stuttgart is a dead rubber, and should be treated as such, players like Callum, Kieran, and Benji should not even travel to Germany, we have three games next week that are far more important than Stuttgart, it’s also an opportunity for some fringe players to get some time on the pitch. Snake Mountain on Sunday is a massive game for us, as is the game on Wednesday night at the Ewe Camp, followed by another trip to Snake Mountain, but this time with the whole Broomloan Road Stand full to the brim with Celtic Supporters.
We can still do this Celtic, make sure that Glasgow remains Green & White.
