Great journey back from Aberdeen. Time to get rid of Beaton.

I’ve just returned from the Funeral Mass for Lisbon Lion, and Celtic Legend, The Original Holy Goalie John Fallon. It was a great turnout for Big John, with lots of mourners having to stand in St Joseph’s Church. John was a larger than life character, he lived the dream of playing for the Club he loved, The Famous Glasgow Celtic, he was a credit to himself and his Family, he will certainly be missed greatly by not only his Family, but also by the many Friends he had, both in Scotland and Ireland. Requiescat in aeternum pace Big John.

It was happy days’ yesterday on the return journey from Aberdeen, it was a great display by the Champions, and a great three points at a ground where it is traditionally hard going, and although we usually win, we have to work hard for the victory. I’ve said a few times that I think Jimmy Thelin is just a later edition of Derek Mc Innes with the way he plays against Celtic. A strong defence and a fierce midfield, who are not averse to leaving a boot dangling, we say it last season when we lost Reo Hatate for the Cup Final because of a stupid unnecessary brutal tackle by the Aberdeen centre forward, that might just have cost us the Cup.

Of course for a team to boot you off the park, the other team needs the assistance of the match officials, and they certainly got it yesterday from that Serial Cheat John Beaton. Celtic had 0ver 70% possession, yet we still had more fouls against us than Aberdeen had against them, and three yellow cards against two for the Dons, how can the team with most of the possession have more fouls awarded against them, it wasn’t a 51-49 split, it was 71-29 split, certainly no logic in it. I thought Devlin, Shinnie, and Nilsen were the worst, and Devlin only got a yellow late in the game, after clugging Jamesy Forrest all afternoon. It’s way past the time when we do something about Beaton, we will have video recordings of every match he has officiated at, it’s time to present it to the authorities.

As for the football, I thought Celtic were excellent all over the park, Kasper and his defence performed very well, when asked to win tackles and headers they did it, when asked to pass out of defence they did that too. Jamesy Forrest was magnificent, he rolled the years back, he looked more 24 than 34, Daizen had a quiet first half, and was unlucky in the second half when he slipped after getting in behind the Dons defence. Big Adam needs a couple of goals, but he worked hard yesterday, a wee bit of luck near goal would come in handy. Great to see Benji Nygren get his first goal, he came onto a real good game after the goal, and will be a great player for us, a bit like Matt O’ Riley.

Onto Friday night now and Falkirk in the cup, as they’ve proved recently, they won’t be a push-over. Then the Champions League qualifier on Wednesday night. There is everything to play for, and qualifying for the Group Stages is imperative, we should be strong enough to get it done, but reinforcements are required, certain for the League phase of the CL. So as usual, everyone has their part to play, both on Friday night and on Wednesday night.
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
