Double winners again, no matter what obstacles are put in our way, the “Famous Glasgow Celtic” seem to find a way to win. I believe that is the 14th Double Celtic have won, 56 League Titles, and 122 Trophies in total, we can only imagine how many trophies Celtic would have won if we had always played on a level playing field, without cheating referees and officials, and of course the famous “EBT” shenanigans.
It wasn’t a classic Celtic performance on Saturday, but Celtic certainly were worthy winners of the Scottish Cup. It was a good first half for us, and although we lost our way a wee bit at the start of the second half, we finished the game strongly, and fully deserved our victory. I think we have to give Dunfermline great credit for making it competitive, and sometimes a wee bit too competitive, and great credit to them also for bringing a lot of supporters through from Fife, I did notice a few green & white scarves’ in the away end, and that’s no surprise considering each season ticket holder could purchase up to sixteen tickets.
This season was definitely a rollercoaster, so many highs at the end, but too many lows at the start. There will be big changes next season, hopefully the Manager isn’t one of them, let’s be honest, it should be Martin’s job if he wants to go for another season, we nearly threw the title away with replacing Martin with Wilfried Nancy, we cannot repeat that mistake again. I believe Martin should be in charge of recruitment for Europe, Shaun is doing the work there just now, but Martin has proved in the past that he knows what a defender and a striker looks like, and his record in Europe is outstanding.
It’s look like we are going to lose Daizen, and if he does leave, he should leave with the best wishes of everyone at Celtic, one thing is sure, we cannot replace Daizen with someone similar, I don’t think there is another player in the world that can do what he does, he will be a massive loss to us. It also looks like Reo might have played his last game for us as well, again a massive loss, when he was on it, he was a fantastic player. I hope we don’t lose Arne Engels, Arne is a Champions League level player, and again would be hard to replace. The three could be joined by Benji Nygren, Benji was a bit of an enigma, but you cannot argue with his stats, he would bring in excess of £20 million, as would Arne, and Daizen has probably added another £10 million to his value in the last two months.
We have a massive rebuilding job on our hands, we are talking about around ten players to come in, and at least the same going out. Decisions have to be made about Kelechi and the Ox, I would be happy to keep both if their fitness improves with a proper pre-season, the Ox hasn’t played much, Kelechi has been brilliant, and both are Champions League level as well. Marcello Saracchi would be a good addition to our squad, and hopefully Callum Osmand’s injury is behind him. The recruitment work has to start right away, I know it’s not easy to get the players you want early, but we need to be ready for the Champions League play-off round, we must get into the group stage, nothing can be allowed to stand in our way.
I wonder if the furore surrounding our Title win will finally recede, or will the whole of the UK, with the exception of Celtic Supporters still be moaning about our rightful Title victory, it’s getting really embarrassing now. The latest clown to pipe up was that well known bevvy merchant Lord George Foulkes, Baron Foulkes of Cumnock, I wonder if the bold Georgie boy was spouting his nonsense in the Celtic Boardroom while getting into the free swally, he could form a wee committee with Keith Jackson, Hugh Keevins, and Billy Leckie, how they are all hurting, it was funny how they all became Hertz supporters when their beloved Sevco bottled it again to finish third, only for the Hertz bubble to burst as well, it was definitely “Sunshine on Leith”.
It’s now time for a break, get the batteries recharged for next season, and get ready to add to our “Long Proud Unbroken History”
