Great Easter Sunday for the Celt’s. Always Believe.

Easter is a time for celebration, and we certainly had something extra to celebrate yesterday afternoon in Dundee, the game was a difficult one to win, and added to that, the result from Livingston earlier in the day made it even better, so Hoopy Easter to all the Celtic Family, and as the message says “Always Believe” there is still much to play for this season, and if we can continue to play with that determination, then it can still be a very successful season.

We started the game very well yesterday, our pressing was spot-on, and we should have been at least three up by half time, I think Daizen must have eaten a few Easter eggs in the morning with the amount of running he did in the first half, he was unlucky not to have scored a couple of goals, but his most important work was not letting the Dundee defence get time on the ball to play passes through our midfield, and he succeeded in his task.

What we have been missing most is a striker who is scoring regularly, Big Tam had a couple of excellent chances, one in each half which he should have scored from, when was the last time the top goal scorer in the SPL was not a Celtic player? we actually normally have a couple of players at the top, although Benji Nygren is doing very in the scoring charts, and with assists. I firmly believe Kelechi Iheanacho would be up there if he had been fit to play every week, he looks like the most natural striker in our squad, but a team like Celtic should have at least three main strikers to pick from, that has always been the Celtic way for as long as I’ve been going to watch Celtic.

Added to not scoring enough goals, we are losing too many at the other end of the park, every time we concede a corner your heart is in your mouth, we are terrible at corners, both attacking and defending, it’s quite simple really, you must win the first contact at a corner in either case whether attacking or defending, and this isn’t just a problem this season, it’s been like that for a few seasons, and it needs to be rectified asap. We lost another goal again yesterday from the first corner we had to defend, it was a stonewaller, but I wouldn’t blame Colby for it, he tried to block the shot and his arm shoots out, I was just a natural movement, two seconds previously he had his arms behind his back.

At the end of the day we have returned from Dundee with the three points, that was the objective, so job done. We now have eight games to go, six in the League, of which four should be at home, starting with St Mirren on Saturday, we have a more than decent chance of coming out on top at the end of the season, and hopefully sitting beside the League Trophy will be the Scottish Cup. If Martin and Shaun manage to land the double, it will rank up beside any double we have ever won before in our long “Unbroken History”

The Celtic Supporters played their part in the victory yesterday, that is what can be achieved when we are aligned with the players. If we are going to win the double, then we need that support at every game whether at Celtic Park, Hampden, or whichever away ground we are visiting. We can still do this “Always Believe”
Glasgow’s still Green & White.
