Santa Ponsa here we come!

Postby gerryfromderry13 » Mon Apr 26, 2010 10:50 am

Such a pity the Celtic team lost the league but we will be back stronger and better next year, of that I have no doubt. SO KEEP LOVIN THE HOOPS!

Nice to see Derek Warfield headlining the SANTA PONSA Convention. We are just back from Santa Ponsa and the weather was brill! It will be warmer again when we all go there for the convention. All the pubs and restaurants are gearing up for it and it will give a much needed boost to the resort following the last two quiet years.

I wrote here a few weeks ago giving a purposeful guide to Santa Ponsa and I will write it again as we get closer to the event.

BARS. The best ones. The Shamrock, Durty Nellies, Seans Place all live music and great craic! Danielles corner and Katys all good too for atmosphere.
Toms bar is a great place to sit in the morning and soak up the sun with a coffee or something stronger if needed..Also found a nice bar called Mulligans beside Made in Italy which is great for food too!

Worse bars we found. The Dubliner, far too expensive and the entertainment was terrible, rip off and the food was awful and expensive too but will write about that under restaurants below. Simplys bar and Hotshots, we went in there and found they were selling cheap branded imitations of proper drinks and we were sick the next day and in the heat it felt horrible, avoid at all costs, not worth the cheap liqour. The guy who owns it too we heard is very anti Irish but pretends to like us for business but has decked a few Irish people in the past because they might have been a bit noisey, not good! The KMS bar is the same! Go to where the Irish are loved.

Good restaurants, Mrs Murphys Kitchen really nice dinners, Restaurant del Mar for a really nice experience across the Beach, a little more expensive but worth it. We found a really nice place this year called Rendezvous for breakfast. Went there every morning, Dave and Pauline really nice couple!
Made in Italy and Mulligans beside it are owned by the same people and do excellent steaks and food at good prices! Ask for Sandru or Chiprian, top guys and one other nice place was Tonis Pizzeria across the road from the Dubliner bar, nice local bloke and great Pizzas. Also a place worth mentioning is Cafe Okay near the Sunbeach Hotel.

Restaurant to avoid. Fat Sams nice food but really far too expensive for what it is. The Dubliner, awful dirty place and expensive. Friends of ours found a cockroach in their food there last year and two other couple we know were violently ill from eating there, not nice when youre on holidays for a week, being laid up in bed, so avoid that one.

All these place mentioned above are in the Irish Quarter.

Well have fun over there, enjoy yourselves and stay safe by eating and drinking in the good places!
