Traffic problems for Hamilton

Postby jimbob » Sat Nov 15, 2008 12:22 am

Police are advising supporters travelling to this Sunday's football match between Celtic and Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park, Hamilton, to leave plenty of time for their journey.

The match kicks off at 2pm on Sunday 16 November 2008 and supporters are warned that traffic and parking in and around the stadium will be extremely busy.

In addition to football traffic, shoppers may also add to the congestion given the time of year and the fact that the stadium is adjacent to New Douglas Park Retail Park.

Supporters travelling to the game should use the recommended route, as follows:

Leave M74 at junction 5 (Raith Interchange), follow signposts for Hamilton onto Uddingston Road, continue to the roundabout and turn left onto Bothwell Road. Turn right at the traffic lights onto Caird Street and then turn first left onto Beckford Street.

Thereafter, turn left into the car park on the left - please note, this is not suitable for high sided vehicles due to height restriction bar. Coaches are advised to turn right into South Lanarkshire Council's car park.
