Walk an Irish Mile May 20, 2012
Walk with me, take my hand, well walk an Irish mile
The route we take may make you cry or even bring a smile
Well take a trip to history, some recent and some old
We will see the places in our lovely land where our leaders walked so bold
The Hill at Slane where Patrick stood to the forecourts where heroes died
From the workhouses to better things, to the trouble spots and more
To the small streets where our people live with trouble at their door
We will see our children running free, their laughter is the sound
Well walk the talk about other things, with our cultures together at last
The graveyards of our country tell the story of our past
With a tear on your cheek with sorrow, I hope weve seen the last
With the laughter of Irish children with hope of a future bright
We can walk the path of freedom with a new Ireland in our sight
Extend your hand with love, theres lots of it to share
Imagine just like John said, its easy if you try
Walk with me, take my hand, well walk an Irish mile
The route we take may make you cry or even bring a smile
