"No Pleasure in a Good Man Losing His Job"

Postby Joe O'Rourke » Thu Mar 25, 2010 5:10 pm

None of us as Celtic supporters should take any pleasure in Tony Mowbray losing his job. I have been a socialist all my life, and always will be, I would not want to see any man losing his job, but finances dictate football now, and fans dictate finances.[/SIZE:0b829740]
[/SIZE:0b829740]
We have to say that Tony would not have been everyone’s first choice to be manager, but once in the job he received the support of the majority of fans; but as time wore on you begin to wonder if it was too big a job for Tony. I also thought that his laid back attitude did not sit well with the fans; I’m sure big Tony was hurting; he just didn’t show it in a way that other managers do.[/SIZE:0b829740]

I was playing the long game with Tony, in that I hoped that something would click for him. That the confidence that breeds resullts would start to flow. Alas, I just plain feel that the job overwhelmed him.

At times, his tactics, subs and body language frustrated the life out of me. Unfortunately we just couldn't achieve the consistency that helps the confidence, hence the results, grow.

I wish Tony Mowbray and his family the best for the future.

I will be supporting and wishing Neil Lennon the very best, and ....hopefully Mjallby.... be still my beating heart... for the remainder of the season

I just hope that the Board tackle the search and subsequent appointment of the main man a lot better this time.

I wish Tony Mowbray all the best - he is a gentleman. Although he will be hurting I imagine a tiny part of him will be relieved at getting away from the way the media treated him here. Good Luck to him in the future.

Joe I dont agree with you on this one. Dont worry about Tony he will walk away with about 2million for total failure. Meanwhile the supporters have to go out and work to pay for season tickets etc. If he was a man at all he would have resigned but he knew the sack was coming and held on for his pay off.

John
i am not privy to the terms of his contract, or what deal if any was done for the termination of that deal. i do think Tony Mowbray is a decent human being, i think he got a lot of things wrong in the job in relation to signings and tactic's etc, but i also seen the hurt in the mans face and thats something i dont like to see anyone going through, we must move on and so must he.

Max I do have a contract with my employer but if I make a balls up I wont be walking away with a fortune like Tony, it would be a weeks wages at best. Oh and I have a name before Lynch.

Fair do's John, but Tony is only getting what's due to him by the contract that Celtic agreed to at the time he took the job.
Are you suggesting Celtic should start renegeing on Contracts they agree to with any member of staff or player for that matter?
I didn't here much being said about MO'N getting a wage from Celtic right up to the day he signed on at Villa, after walking out on the Club, money he was perfectly entitled to, for the same reason Tony is due his, it was in the contract that Celtic agreed to when he took the job.
Infact MO'N was responsible for the ludicrous contract that was given to big Bobo, again Celtic agreed to it at the time, so the big man was due what was agreed, but then MO'N walked out he left Celtic to carry the can.
I didn't see him coming in for him the way he did with Petrov and Maloney!
You would have though that if he thought so much of him as a player, to offer him such a contract at Celtic, he would have been top of his shopping list the minute he took the Villa job, which obviously wasn't the case!
The huns are a club who rip off investors and renege on contracts and agreements with banks, which anyother company would be chrged with fraud for, which loaning money from a bank in the full knowledge you have no intention of paying back, knowing you don't have the finaces to do so is, fraud.
We are Celtic, we're different from them, we pay our debts, and investors make a profit, which makes it a well run business.

Tony Mowbray comes across as a nice guy in general but watching some of the recent games it was obvious it was time for him to move on,, good luck to him tho.
