Why blame Broony? He didn't issue the red card !!

Postby Joe O'Rourke » Mon Mar 19, 2018 11:53 am

The view from Row YY at the back of the upper tier of the stand behind the goal at Motherwell isn’t a very good one, you can just about see the top of the crossbar of the goal below, of course that’s not Motherwell’s fault, that because supporters choose to stand at away grounds now.

But from that view I thought the Motherwell player Cedric Kipre had a lash out at Scott Brown, now having saw it on television it looked like handbags from both players. But let’s get one thing abundantly clear, Scott Brown didn’t show Kipre the red card, nor did he appeal to the referee to show the red card, so why is Broony getting flak?

We all know that Broony, outside of Celtic and our supporters, is not the most popular player in Scottish Football. That’s because he is such a competitive player, and gives his all in every match. It’s also because in his ten years at Celtic he has been very successful, if we complete the historic treble this season Broony will have won sixteen trophies, including eight League Titles.

There is actually nothing to stop Broony captaining Celtic to “Ten in a Row” which obviously would be a first. Scott has been a fantastic captain for Celtic, he does what every great captain does and leads by example, he drives the team on, even when he rarely doesn’t have a great game. He is one player that you can guarantee leaves everything out on the pitch at time-up.

So why is he demonised by people like Andy Walker? I don’t get Walker, the most successful part of his career was playing in Celtic’s Centenary Double Winning Team. So why does he always have a go at Celtic? I suspect it’s because, like other pundit’s on TV, they are terrified of offending the Sevconians by praising Celtic. Maybe they have good cause for that, but that should be a matter for Scotland’s finest.

It wasn’t classic yesterday at Motherwell, but we found ourselves a point better off than our nearest challengers, if you can actually call Sevco challengers. This season was never going to be the same as last season. Even if we had went Invincible again, it’s never as good the second time around, although doing it twice would have been remarkable, or maybe even miraculous.
