A decent man, but we need a change now.

As a Socialist I never want to see a decent person lose their job. I think it is very clear that Ronny Deila comes into the category of being a “Decent Human Being” But I have to agree that the football project has failed this year; both in Europe and domestically; and we need a change.

I suppose Sunday was the last straw in terms of performance; or should that be the lack of performance. The real worrying thing was obviously the level of fitness of our players. To see most of them struggling during extra time; and even before that should be of serious concern to our Management Team.

This season has been a rollercoaster; it started badly with our European results; and the league performances have been erratic to say the least. Just what changed I don’t really know. Last season without the Blatant Cheating by the Six Blind Men at Hampden we should have won the treble.

We now have five games left to make sure that we achieve “Five in a Row” The best way to achieve that is for us all to get behind the Manager and the Players in each and every one of those five games.

It is time now for a serious look at where we are and where we want to be. We need a proven Manager to take control of the football team. The squad will need serious investment to strengthen; and a lot of players will need to leave to make room for new arrivals. The squad is probably top heavy as it is just now and needs to be trimmed.

There has obviously been a few names banded about as to whom should be the new manager; I’m not going to speculate on individuals. My thoughts on who the new manager should be are the same as they always are. I believe it is the same as player recruitment; you go for the best available option; then work your way through the list until you get the best you possibly can.

We have been burned by maybe taking our eye off the ball; next season will be more competitive; and will require a greater level of consistency to succeed. We also need to get back into the Champions’ League group stage; that is where the supporters want to be; and that is where our club belongs.

I have been following Celtic for over sixty years; and have seen a lot worse seasons than this one; but it doesn’t make it any easier to accept. We need to regroup. We need to stand together. We need to go forward as the Best Football Club in the World. We are Glasgow Celtic.

It is very important to be in Europe, esp the Champions' League, but how much money will that cost? Unless one can sort out the money issues which challenge football in Scotland as a whole, then we will struggle to compete in Europe, and even in Scotland it will be hard work.

Kiwibhoy Ivan Jovanovic is a good shout because he's done brilliantly with Apoel Nicosia in the recent past with a £7m budget.

The next appointment is of critical importance. There's talk of Lenny. He can gtf! Martin Oneill and Keane would be great but I want Ivan Jovanovic! Plenty of experience, lots of winning experience, titles, cups etc. Got Nicosia into CL twice via playoffs on a £7m budget and also into CL quarter finals. We will probably end up with John Hughes. I'm fn scunnered with this fn board and that Bankier can go as well
