Opposition to the OBA will continue.

Postby Joe O'Rourke » Fri May 08, 2015 12:27 pm

The Celtic support has been the most proactive set of supporters; (i sometimes think we are the only set of supporters) who are opposing the Offensive Behaviour at Football Scotland Act; and while young Celtic Supporters continue to be criminalised that opposition will be maintained and increased.

Since this piece of obnoxious legislation was rushed through the parliamentary process many Celtic Supporters have been affected by it. Some of these; mainly young boys have spent many hours in police custody for supporting their team while real criminals roam the streets committing real crimes.

As part of the on-going opposition to the Offensive Behaviour at Football Act FAC is organising a petition which will be presented as part of the review of this Act which must take place later this year. At present we are not sure what form the review will take, despite many attempts to establish how this will be done, so it is important that we bring as much pressure as possible on the Scottish Government to ensure that the process is open, transparent and wide ranging.

As a result of being prosecuted under this legislation some of our fellow football supporters, mainly young men, are being criminalised for nothing more than singing a song or songs at a football match...

You can help by signing the petition yourself and getting as many people as possible to do likewise. The link to the petition is http://chn.ge/1EcDDrN.

Please do what you can to support this initiative and please do contact me if you need any further information.
