Young Oscar Knox needs your help and support.

[COLOR=#000000:98c0f7bd]When it comes to helping those in need, the Celtic Supporters are the World’s best, which is undeniable. There have been many examples over the years of our supporters walking in the charitably footsteps of Brother Walfrid, only 2months ago we had the Thai Tims at Celtic Park for 3 weeks.
[COLOR=#000000:98c0f7bd]In recent years we have had the Bring Martin Home Appeal, and The Tommy Burns Skin Cancer Trust, and numerous other worthy causes which have received great backing from our fantastic supporters, sincere thanks to all who have helped and donated.
[COLOR=#000000:98c0f7bd]Today I would ask you to support another very worthy cause. It is about a young child in Newtownabbey, a town just north of Belfast. The child is Oscar Knox; Oscar has a rare aggressive Cancer called Neuroblastoma.
[COLOR=#000000:98c0f7bd]To fight this Cancer Oscar needs Immunotherapy treatment, which can cost as much as £250,000, which sadly he needs to get abroad, it’s not available in the UK.
[COLOR=#000000:98c0f7bd]As you would imagine Oscar’s parents Stephen and Leona are desperate to get Oscar the treatment he needs, hopefully with your help that can be achieved. Please visit the Just Giving site through the links below to make a donation.

Other blogs have promoted this too, Joe. The response, as do those to other appeals, highlights that we are a special club. We are a unique support that even when nursing the wounds of bullying, insults and injuries from within football, can reach out to all, world wide, who need us. It elevates us to the greatest of heights but also keeps our feet firmly planted in reality where there are some things more important than football. It is a blessing we should be eternally grateful for that we see what matters as few others can. In that lies the warmth and generosity of the Celtic Family.

The Celtic Supporters Association

The Celtic Supporters Association was the idea of Willie Fanning whose dream became a reality back in September 1944.

These were dark days on and off the pitch with the Second World War still raging and in comparison to those horrors rather more trivialy Celtic were not providing much joy to its supporters and defeat was a regular experience. Indeed the idea of a supporters association came to 27-year-old Willie while watching the Bhoys get thrashed 6-2 at Hamilton.

Willie decided to write to the Daily Record calling on fellow Celtic fans interested in establishing a supporters club to get in touch. A total of 14 people replied. Consequently a meeting was arranged at St Mark's and St Paul's Hall, Chester Street in Shettleston. The meeting proved to be a success - a provisional committee was installed and Willie was elected as President.

By the time of the second meeting at the A.O.H. Hall in Alexandria Parade in Townhead the word had spread. The hall was packed and car loads of supporters from across Glasgow and beyond eager to attend created a traffic jam along the parade.

A constitution was drawn up which allowed the new organosation to become an amalgamation of supporters clubs. Within 12 months membership had rocketed to 700 and the association had won the official endorsement of Celtic FC who handed over the responsibility of distributing match tickets to affiliated branches of the CSA.

The CSA remains a strong and influential body. Apart from following Celtic in massive numbers it has a social club in Glasgow and its annual Supporters Rally is a highlight in the Celtic calendar.

True to the traditions of Celtic FC the CSA also has a proud and continued ethos of raising funds for charity.
