What kind of country are we living in?
If you believe King Alex Salmond and most of the other politicians in Scotland they would have you believe that the only place you will find anti-Irish/Catholic/Celtic attitudes would be in the West of Scotland; and mostly in and around Glasgow. Well have a look at the video below from Youtube; this isnt a bunch of Rangers supporters, but a mob from Motherwell; its absolutely astonishing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCDDjTMQ5uI&context=C3ae40aaADOEgsToPDskKV9xxunfOV140j2XkE7i06[/URL:4eed16b7] As a Celtic supporter I have received abuse in every town and city I have visited while on duty following my team; some I would admit are worse than others; and while I accept there is a natural dislike to the team and supporters who are regularly winning leagues and cups; some of the stuff we get is of a particularly nasty racist/sectarian nature. The treatment hurled at Neil Lennon and Aiden Mc Geady would have resulted in arrests if the same abuse had been hurled at a black player; but it would appear its alright to abuse Irish players in this one Scotland many cultures of ours. Below is another good article from the European Examiner in a similar vein; please have a read; you wont regret it.
